The City of Sydney Business Awards provide an opportunity for Small to Medium Sized Enterprises to market, promote and network within the LGA. These opportunities are open for all participants including local businesses, sponsors, state and local government, Chambers of Commerce, Business Associations and the media.
On Saturday 4 July 2009, the Global Poverty Project launched from Melbourne.
The Global Poverty Project is a new initiative working to catalyse the movement to end extreme poverty.

The Fair Trade Association of Australia and New Zealand was excited to attend and support GPP - and provide a stall to inform those who attended how they can tackle poverty every time they buy a fair trade product.Now GPP heads off to other parts of Australia, and then around the world.

Presentations will be happening around Australia in July and will also be happening in New Zealand.
The Fair Trade Association of Australia and New Zealand and Fairtrade Labelling Australia and New Zealand released their 2008 Annual Report last week.

The annual report shows that Australian and New Zealand support of Fairtrade Certified and Labelled products grew strongly for the fifth consecutive year in 2008 with retail figures exceeding AU$32 million - an increase of over 70%.
Fairtrade Certified coffee sales continued to run hot last year, reaching AU$17 million in Australia and NZ$9.5 million in NZ - making it the highest selling Fairtrade Certified product in both countries.
The number of businesses licensed to sell Fairtrade products in both countries also rose significantly with over 160 now registered with FLANZ.
